What's On?

FUNDRAISE FOR ANGEL SHED

Over the past 20 years we’ve enabled thousands of young people to discover a love of theatre, dance and music here in Islington.

As part of our birthday celebrations we’re aiming to raise £20,000 to ensure we can continue to do this long into the future!

Whether it’s a sponsored run, open mic night, or good old fashioned jumble sale, you can help us reach this target during our 20th anniversary year.

Make sure to let us know about your fundraising efforts, or feel free to get in touch if you’d like any advice or inspiration!

We have raised £9,000 so far from our successful Pub Quiz, Celebration Event, and individual donations!

NEW CHAIR OF TRUSTEES

We are delighted to announce Sam Lansdale as our new Chair of Trustees as we mark 20 years of Angel Shed.

Sam has worked across a variety of sectors in the first ten years of his professional career since graduating from University College London with an Atomic and Particle Physics degree in 2014. He has worked in theatre, mass-participation sports, education technology and most recently financial services. Since 2017 he has been a Trustee of a Kent-based charity providing grassroots football to over 1000 children.

Reacting to his appointment, Sam said:

“I am thrilled and humbled to be joining Angel Shed to lead the Board of Trustees. I believe passionately in the transformative power of the performing arts as a vehicle for positive change. I also understand the vital role that Angel Shed plays within the local community and am acutely aware of the challenges faced in both the charitable and arts sectors at the moment. I cannot wait to get started and help drive Angel Shed forwards alongside the wider team, all of our dedicated volunteers and Board of Trustees.”

David Mabbott, Artistic & Executive Director, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Sam to lead our fantastic Board of Trustees. Sam’s commitment to inclusion, young people, and the performing arts aligns strongly with Angel Shed’s work and ethos, and he understands the importance of Angel Shed to our members and the local community. I know that he will bring new energy and ideas, and that his extensive range of skills will help Angel Shed to move forward during these challenging times, ensuring we continue to provide a safe space for children to express themselves, develop confidence, and grow into curious, creative, and courageous young people. I, along with our committed and experienced Board of Trustees, and the wider team, look forward to working with Sam as we look to the future with ambition and determination.”

Sam is succeeding Andrew Duncan, who has stepped down as Chair after almost eight years leading the charity. We are grateful to Andrew for his strong governance and commitment to the organisation, seeing us through a time of growth as well as the challenges of the pandemic. He said: “It is time for somebody with fresh ideas and energy to take over and I am delighted that Sam Lansdale has agreed to take over from me. It has been a delight, a privilege and an honour to represent Angel Shed and I would like to thank all my fellow trustees for their invaluable support, advice and commitment.”
